Advocacy Matters

Social Inclusion

Advocacy remains critically important to our work in promoting social inclusion for persons with disabilities.

NCPD culminated in 2017 with the submission of a project proposal request to Caribbean Policy Development Centre for a Public Awareness Campaign on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) for 2018. Promoting public awareness on disability issues is an important mandate of the UNCRPD.

Our Engagements

NCPD is actively engaged in diverse forms of advocacy such as
Workshops, seminars, lectures, meeting and other fora to advocate for the sector.
We provide technical advice, share good practices and learning, as well as contribute to the knowledge base on disability issues at both national and regional levels.
Initiating many other activities to promote the advancement towards a society for all.

Our Commitment

NCPD remains committed to continuing to work towards an inclusive society.

In 2015 NCPD and the Caribbean Kids and Families Therapy Organization (CKFTO) collaborated for a second successive year to continue the Social Integration of Person with Disabilities (SIPD) campaign. The campaign was funded by Repsol.

In the first year it was to emphasize school -based education and public awareness to promote the absolute inclusion of people with disabilities in Trinidad and Tobago.

The second year was to raise awareness on the need for an inclusive society. It had an intensive media inclusion where seven local celebrities each taking a different message on issues faced by persons with disabilities.
